Location:One World Café, Moscow ID Called to order at 7:00 p.m. Old Business:Lyonsmarche Fall Feast and Tourney: Ceinwen contacted the Coeur d'Alene Tribe to reserve the hall in Worley for November 8. No news yet. If there is a funeral, we could get bumped. Tawny and Hallgrim are autocratting. Tova and Morgaina will feast-o-crat. We will have to contact Sir Devon to see if we can get the champion sword back. Kingdom Largess Bags: Morgaina is still waiting on Her Majesty's word on who will be making the bags. The bags would be for Estrella. 12th Night will be in Eugene, Oregon. An-Tir Kingdom A&S will be held March 6-8, 2009 in the Barony of Wastekeep. Kingdom is discussing whether they will do a multiple entry or single entry format. Anyone can enter - you don't have to be in the champion competition to enter something and get good feedback from it. Lyonsmarche Letter of Incorporation: Morgaina found a copy of the Minor Carte for the Shire of Blue Mountain (the originally proposed shire for our area). That name was not allowed due to a conflict with a coffee business, so they next tried College of Hraesvelgr. That in turn didn't pass because it was the proper name of a mythical beast and not a place name. Thus was coined the College of Lyonsmarche. Morgaina, Phelan, and Killian all volunteered to begin work on a new Minor Carte. It was decided that the working copy be kept on the yahoogroups file site for Lyonsmarche for review and comment by all interested parties as it develops. Phelan will contact the Barony of Wastekeep for an editable copy of their Minor Carte as a starting point. Copies of the Customary of the Barony of Dragon's Laire and the Constitution of the Barony of Seagirt were also handed around for comparison. Our Minor Carte will address our specific needs as a College. New Business:Master of Stables: Killian stepped forward as Master of Stables. Phelan will be his deputy. Killian asked for assistance from heavy fighters in running the program, as he has had no experience with it. Phelan and Hallgrim should be able to assist with that. Phelan will write Sir Guy Grimsson to introduce Killian and allow them to start an email conversation. Lyonsmarche Web Page: Symmonne will maintain Lyonsmarche page if we want her to. We will be able to provide input on page updates. Phelan will talk to Symmone more about what we will be able to access and change on the site. He will also check into email addresses for branch officers, similar to what Three Mountains has. The consensus was that if we can avail ourselves of a free service we should accept Symmonne's generosity. Morgaina mentioned some blogspot groups she is associated with and will send out links so we can look at them. Heraldry Consultation Companion Inguz from Wastekeep has offered to provide a heraldry consultation for us in the Lewiston/Moscow area (as she has local family she just needs an excuse to visit). The group discussed possible format and days - we would probably do it as part of a potluck and fighter practice/A&S meeting. Dates would be September 27/28 or October 11/12, with Sundays being preferred. Phelan will contact Inguz to see if any of those days work for her. Nearby Medieval Groups: Killian and Tawny talked about other groups operating at the University of Idaho. There is a medieval group, one focusing on rapier fighting, and even an archery club. We discussed perhaps having a cross-over practice/meeting with some of them to see if there are similar interests and talents that could be shared. Killian noted that the rapier group was conforming to SCA standards in order to practice with rapier fighters from the Wealdsmere area. He will also check into whether the archery club would allow practices on their indoor range. Lyonsmarche Champions: At present we have our A&S Championship as part of Honor War, and Heavy Champion as part of our fall/winter event. It was proposed that we create Rapier, Archery, and Bardic champion competitions as well. Phelan noted that the Heavy Champion carries Lyonsmarche's Sword throughout the year (there is no current equivalent for A&S). He suggested perhaps we should come up with some sort of favor or insignia for these other Champions if we will have competitions for them. Discussion was that typically there are either favors or specific icons for the champions. If a participant were to win several championships at different branches, perhaps favors would be easier for them to wear throughout the year (and easier for us to replace if one goes missing). Other suggestions were for a sash/armband for rapier and a bracer for archery. Also, the timing of the championships was discussed - adding rapier to Honor war and archery to the fall event. Bardic could be added to either event. Officer ReportsSeneschal: Planning to attend the An-Tir Administrative Retreat October 17-19, 2008. Per discussion before the meeting I will make sure to reserve the room at One World Café if we are meeting there. Asked for funding to purchase a book of stamps and to pay for a new file box ($9.88) and hanging folders ($3.88). He will submit receipts for reimbursement. Exchequer: Presented by Phelan for Ceinwen. Ceinwen is now warranted. No change of funds for the month, current balance $3,754.70. At the August meeting Phelan and Ceinwen asked the group to cover the registration costs ($40 each) for them to attend the Administrative Retreat. The group agreed to reimburse them once they turn in receipts. A&S: Tawny is updating the quarterly reports as people tell her about projects. Please let her know! Proposed project work days - September 14 in Lewiston (Gold Key day!), September 28 in Moscow, October 12 in Moscow. Likely starting time of 1pm for all. Chatelaine: Tova had several handouts of Kingdom-approved literature for handing out, we just change the branch name. She suggested putting some nice 11x17 posters in places like Michaels, Joanne's Fabrics, and maybe game stores. Phelan suggested we also get a stack of business cards to put along side the posters, and spares to hand out. We'll have to get them passed by Kingdom unless they have a standard form. Tova said the posters were $3.30 apiece at Staples. Tawny said that the UI print stores might do them cheaper for students/faculty. We'll ask Killian to get a quote. Approved a maximum advertising budget of $30 to start. Chronicler: No Officer. Phelan will be taking notes from the meetings to post to the listserv and provide copies to the inlands chronicler and Grete Boke. Gold Key: No Officer. We need to get out all the gold key items and inventory them. Phelan will pick them up (and maybe the whole College trailer) Saturday and we can go through them at the Gold Key work party Sunday. There was a discussion on how to label the gold key items - Tova said that a huge gold key on the back wasn't the most attractive she'd seen. Morgaina suggested perhaps putting a small Lyonsmarche device on them - something moderately discreet but noticeable to all. Herald: Tawny volunteered to become branch herald. Phelan passed around the paperwork. Oddny said she might be interested in being deputy, once she works out what her class load will be. As discussed above Companion Inguz will probably do a heraldry consult day in the next month. Lists: No Officer Master of Stables: Killian volunteered to become branch MoS. Phelan passed around the paperwork. Phelan will be Killian's deputy to assist with the heavy fighting side of things. Godwin also offered to be of assistance in archery. Phelan will get Killian in contact with Sir Guy, the inlands reporting Marshall. Meeting adjourned 8:40 p.m. In Service, Next month >>> | |
